FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Scan to BIM?

Scan to BIM converts laser-scan point cloud data of an existing building into an accurate, dimensionally verified 3D BIM model for renovation, retrofit, heritage, or facility management work.

What point cloud formats does NICVDC accept?

We work with E57, RCP/RCS, PTS, PTX, LAS, and LAZ point clouds, plus photogrammetry and drone survey data.

How accurate are Scan to BIM models?

We typically model to a 10–15 mm tolerance against the registered point cloud, and can tighten this where the scan registration and project brief require it.
